Hi Steve and Maya,
Great article! Will you remember us when you have the 100’s of people clamering at your door?
Beautiful day here…going for a morning bike ride and noon surf session! See you Monday morning!
I am so pleased the Ice Chamber is finally getting the credit it deserves. Steve and Maya – you have made this a wonderful place to train and develop new skills and I am so grateful to be a part of this amazing fitness community. I owe a great deal to you – much more than my membership fee could ever cover. (I’m going to stop now before I get a little tear in my eye.)
I *heart* the Ice Chamber!
Steve and Maya,
Loved the article. I am so proud of you two! I am glad that I was able to meet to people who have truly changed my life. I will forever be in you debt. Muchas gracias!
Hey, Kelley H. can you e-mail me – shariwashburn@yahoo.com
Thanks!
hhhmmm, I sense a chain of little chambers around the bay in the future! With Kelly, Mani, Juliet and the other trainers manging each! Yes, please save a mat on the floor for me! This article was great, I emailed it to my friends and family who have all noticed a change in me (could it be the fitter clothes I now wear?) but have no idea what I do in the mornings and why I have to go home before the bars close now! I, too, enjoyed the “expert” they called on about your methods. Too bad they embark on the community feeling and funny comments on your dailey blogs.
I meant “didn’t” embark on the communtiy feelings…….oops.
I think it would be hard to replicate the IC around the Bay. What makes the IC so great are Steve and Maya (unless they know how to be in more than one place at a time, in which case, I need to talk to them). Their expertise, guidance, sense of humor and devastating work outs take people to places they have never been before. Besides, we work out better when Kelly, Mani, Juliet and the other trainers are in the house. They inspire us to excel!
Congratulations Steven & Maya! You have created such an amazing environment that truly brings all of your members to “total fitness” of mind, body, & spirit!! The Ice Chamber is phenomenal for so many reasons and I feel privileged to be a member.
Steve and Maya,
Great article. Thank you for transforming me. Two years ago, I would not consider lifting heavy weights above my head as fun.
Hooray! Great article. I also liked the outside verification. It’s a hard thing to explain to people, how great the IC is, because it really does ride on the S & M dream team inspiration more than anything! Of course I’m already a convert. Alan and Susan had great quotes, I thought.
Juliet called me this morning: “Hey, you are in the Trib photo doing body rows.”
Me: “Cool. Is my form good?”
Juliet: “Weeeell, no. Frankly, you look a little bowed.”
Hee hee.
If we did ever have a chain of ICs, mine would be known as the stinky one.
Every member brings something special to the Ice Chamber. This unique combination of diversity, comradery, & talent is hard to beat. We’re like, um, a “box of chocolates?”
Thanks for making the IC a delicious place!
By the way, a huge THANK YOU to Susan and Alan for making us sound good. No burpees for you.
this is making me cry too! i think we need bumper stickers:
i heart the ice chamber
i heart the stinky ice chamber
‘chamber’ of mystery
honk if you love burpees
well done Steve, Maya and even Baby K!!
I have a teeshirt to add to the lineup – wouldn’t really make a bumper sticker. A picture of Steve w/his bald head and little finger to corner of mouth a la Dr. Evil with a text bubble saying “I’ll give them…one million pushups!! Muahahahaha.”
Great article Steve & Maya. You two do a fabulous job!!! I had to laugh about the “honk if you love burpees” idea. Hate those things!
To all of you who left nice comments about my deadlift last week – thank you so much, guys!!! Sorry, I didn’t read them until just now.
Ha, ha! Mine would say, “Honk if you’ve been pregnant so long that watching jump squats makes you drool with envy” or “Honk if you used to be able to do pull-ups, but all you can do now is buy them from Long’s.”
About the article, a special thanks goes out to all the IC members and trainers that renew my spirit every day and keep me feeling rejuvenated and happy! You guys are the reason for the article–not the location or methods utilized–it’s the people and the supportive environment that make the IC experience so different from the rest.
“Honk if you used to be able to do pull-ups, but all you can do now is buy them from Long’s.”
We could make a goldmine with this shirt!!
“Honk if you used to be able to do pull-ups, but all you can do now is buy them from Long’s.”
This is too funny NOT to be made into a shirt!! Maya, hang in there….mother nature knows when you can’t stand being pregnant any more and voila, baby K!
Great article…but I have to agree with Kerri…the sense of community is a HUGE factor, and the Trib forgot to put it in!
Thanks Steve and Maya for sticking to your dreams and in turn changing all our lives for the better, especially mine…(thank you so much for taking me under your wings and for having confidence in me), and to all the members of the Ice Chamber cult…you all make it what it is…Keep it up!
As for t-shirts: I *heart* the Torture Chamber would be my favorite:)
Maya, that really needs to be on a t shirt-IC exclusive and then branch out. It’s way better that the “got milk” mama/kid shirts!
I posted something last night, but it didn’t make it through:(
Congrats to you both…you deserve this recognition and more. You have changed so many people’s lives for the better (especially mine and I thank you from the top of my heart for taking me under your wings and for having confidence in me when I needed it most). You have created an Ice Chamber cult that people vy to be a part of and its all because of the wonderful environment you both create…THANK YOU!!
My addition to the t-shirt: Welcome to the Torture Chamber!
You know my shirt would say: Resistance is futile. With the IC logo looking a bit Borg-like.
