I would just like to say that Piera is no joke. She jumped on the rower after her workout – with a smile on. She then proceeded to move at around 25 – 29 SPM the entire length of the race. She didn’t puke, but almost fainted. So I think she should get something for that.

Rick is just a monster on the erg. End of story.

Forgot to mention some other folks that broke their records this morning. Here they are: Susan Reeves, Stephanie Pardee, Stacey Bell, Shari, Barrett Tucker, Lan-Ling, Kerri. And oh, Jennifer Burt earned a t-shirt. Yah!

  3. Baby Ks Momma says:

    That all you got Piera?

  4. Bear Bear says:

Horayyy Piera and Rick. I knew this day would eventualy come when I can hand over my crown or bucket depending on how you feel after your row. Very happy for you both.

Oh yes, not to call anyone out but there are few folks that I know can match or bet these records based on last Tuesday nights class, DOUG, RUDI, GREG, and HEIDY???

  5. Piera says:

…Maya, next time I’ll try to drink more coffee before coming to class. Maybe then. In all seriousness, Tsan was the one who got me through it with her great coaching/cheering.

Bear Bear – next time, don’t set the bar so high. In my case I think you handed over the smelling salts, a whoopin’, and a bad case of PLQ (permanently locked quadriceps). Goodness help me if we do bootstrappers any time soon.

I also suspect my record will be brief…

Kerri kicked ass all over the place. I’m especially proud that she demanded the bucket and kept rowing like a soldier. Who taught her that? Special shot out to all the S-Factors (Steph, Susan, Shari, and Stacey)! What’s up with Lan-ling partying in Italy all week and breaking her record anyway?

  7. Baby Ks Momma says:

Piera, your legs (and mind) are made of steel–you seriously made my day today. Thank you. Btw, if you think your quads are sore now, wait until DOMS hits the hammies within the next two days. Tsan needs to quit practicing law and follow her real calling at the IC…

  8. Bear Bear says:

Oh, don’t forget about the hacking cough and the weird stuff that comes out of your lungs.

Maya, this is normal right? Heehehe

  9. Piera says:

“When the DOMS hits the hammies” – isn’t that a country song? I will be sure to complain about all the physical harm associated with this event, whatever form it takes. For now, more coffee.

  10. Kerri says:

Whew…if I knew you were going to make us row this a.m., I would not have snacked the bacon off my kids’ breakfast plates this morning before heading out the door. I thought it was in my chest during the last 200 meters (get the bucket!!!), but now I realize it it the lung fire! Yikes. Thanks to Lan Ling for her great motivation to keep me going!!!

  11. steph says:

Piera–you made it seem easy! Way to go.

  12. Piera says:

Thanks…it definitely felt hard. You should know, I rowed a little when I was a freshman in college (a long time ago, alas). We didn’t have buckets, 500’s or records like Bear Bear’s though. We never had to row like THAT. Even so, I saw the writing on the wall and switched sports!
