Mid-year Check-up

med ball core

Well, according to the calendar, it’s July, which means 2007 is almost half over. Time to check in on all of those goals everyone set right before the New Year. Can you check off anything? Does anything need to be revised? Want to add anything?

deep push-ups

Check out your goals at the link below and um, expose yourself. And if you didn’t post in December, it’s not too late. What were your goals and how are you progressing? No goals at the beginning of the year? How about some mid-year goals?

I was MIA on that new year’s mission! I should have written “blog once and a while”, as I can’t stop getting my IC fix!

mid year review-looks great when I didn’t write any down! but…
improve my stats on the white board.
    Surf with Haakon and Rune
get Annakari in the ocean (if she wants to)
raise awareness to life threatening nut allergies (food, not people!)
be bold and have a grateful heart

Though I jokingly wrote down 30 pull-ups, I may actually come close by year’s end. I am currently at 7 again (ohhhh yeahhh) and each pound of fat I lose should help me get over that bar at least two more times. …still have 15 pounds to lose and trust me, this is one New Year’s resolution I plan to follow through on.

  3. Steven says:

Three out of four so far. Will test # 4 tomorrow.

  4. Shari says:

well, Maya always looks hot so are you testing her L-sit or her deadlift?

  5. Steven says:

Oh, I was referring to myself. Will try for the 10 muscle-ups tomorrow. It will be tough with the injured pinky though. I’ll post my progress. As far as Maya is concerned, she’s pretty much untouchable. Pound for pound, she kicks my ass any day.

  6. Shari says:

aaawwww…I love all the love that softens up such a bad ass gym.

  7. Shari says:

O.k., so when I look at my first set of goals, I am happy to say that I have accomplished pretty much everything except the yoga practice and the race (well, and the body fat edges is like a see saw, up and down, up and down).

The I look at my measureable goals. Since I’m not doing any personal training, I haven’t had a chance to work on a new 1RM for my deadlift or benchpress. And I was injured which took back squatting out of rotation. And 5 pull ups?

I see I have a lot of work to do.

  8. Steven says:

Well, I’m on the same page. Tried the MUs today and I got 5 reps. I want to blame it on the busted pinky but that’s lame. I’m setting a goal to get another 5 within four weeks. Will post progress.

  9. P says:

Maya, at 7 pullups after only 1 week? Wha? Impressive!!

(Now I will jokingly write down 30 pull-ups as a goal and see if it will move me along that quickly.)

  10. Baby Ks Momma says:

That’s exactly how it happens P.

  11. Shari says:

Is no one else going to respond?

  12. Steven says:

Looks like Renee, Shari, P, Maya and I are the only ones pursuing the resolution concept. I guess there’s always next year :-)

  13. Kat says:

I didn’t put up any resolutions in December because I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to commit to, but here goes for the rest of the year:

Break/set a white board record at least once a month
At lease 4 IC workouts/week [I track my attendance on Google calendar]
Be able to do an L-sit (slash work on tuck holds)
    15(?!) pull-ups
    5 (?) dips

  14. Kat says:

    I forgot one:

No more missing IC Fun Night (aka Thursday)

  15. mmmars says:

    Ok, here goes…
    perfect push-up form
    5 pull ups (gulp!)
    3:45 1000m row
1/2 marathon under 2 hours (ya, I’m that slow)
lose 20 lbs more (12 so far)
lose 10% more BF (5 so far)
mindful eating (ie: no mindless eating)
    love on my delicious baby
    love on my wonderful hubby
love on my own bad self

All I have to say is Yikes! Is July over already? OK, well I beat my rowing record….so 1 out of 10 ain’t bad, although it is a bit strange because I only put that one in to make Steve happy. Not doing very well on the rest, sadly. But re-reading my list kind of invigorated me…once my shin splints are a bit better, maybe I will even go for a run and give my kids a kiss!
