Our New Year’s Eve workout at 9am was rockin’ this morning! So much so that we just had to take a class photo to remember the moment. We can also use this photo for some of our star competitors to use as a “before” photo for our 2009 Fat Loss Challenge. With over 30 competitors already officially registered, this should definitely be one for the record books. More details to come… We can’t wait!

JoJo and Lindsay put on a clinic yesterday including a 500m sprint demo, displaying control, power, and grace. The audience partook in a 5k relay race to demonstrate what they learned from the “Brown Girls.” Afterwards, we chowed on sandwiches and sweets. This mini get-together honored the athletic achievements of everyone on Team IC this year, including the Couples Decathlon, individual members’ PRs, the IC Fall Kettlebell Meet, NCAA Division I Championships, the Beijing Olympic Team, as well as the ICKB Competition Team. We look forward to a great 2009!
Happy holidays! Please join us for a small gathering on Saturday at 11am to celebrate the season as well as the amazing accomplishments of so many IC members this year. This, of course, will follow a “lite” workout at 10am (all members welcome) with our 2008 National Rowing Champs. Susan Reeves is at it again. She seems to pop up everywhere: Las Vegas, Atlanta, and who knows where else. But we do know one thing: without her support, it would be hard to keep things running smoothly. Thank you Susan!
Many thanks to Coach Scott Shelter and the AKC for organizing a great event. With some of the best names in Kettlebell Sport in the house, the ICKB Girls did not disappoint. As a matter of fact, this was our most rewarding performance to date. Here’s why:

In addition to these incredible performances, four of our girls earned their CMS rankings tonight, with Valery Fedorenko officially declaring them Candidates for Master of Sport! Congratulations to Jess, Sara, Heidy and Maya for their great achievement.
And by the way, Heidy just happens to be so bad-ass that she also took home the “Best Female Lifter” award, winning an AKC Collectors’ Edition Trophy Bell. (Only eight of these have ever been given out by the organization.)
Finally, I didn’t do too bad this time, taking a gold in the male amateur long cycle. It was an honor to compete next to the one and only — American Champion, Marty Farrell. Standing by him definitely gave me the motivation to last longer and set a new PR.
We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the year.
