Team 0600 awaits the official announcement of this month’s challenge…

Ice Chamber members come out to support the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics today. Thank you to Officer Reece for helping to organize this event!
1. Bootcamper Susan B. (0600) gets to finally meet one of our most famous members, the one and only Catherine J. (IC’er for the past 5 years).
2. Berkeley and Emeryville Police Departments with IC members at the finish line.
3. University Avenue is shut down for the runners. Can you name three IC members in this pic?
4. Essbee, Maya, Kirk, and Mateo at Sproul Plaza.
5. Turbo and Sara excited about… the motorcycles?

Piera leaves tonight for her big trip to the Gobi March in Western China…
“It would be more than great to hear from folks - words from home will carry me over the tough miles. It already promises to be an extra long and adventurous race. Giving it my best shot with what I got.” -Piera
Send your words of encouragement to the lovely Ms. Piera here.

IC members tackled the Golder Bear Triathlon this morning:
1. Kim Martinez en route to Valley Road
2. Getting ready for Lake Anza
3. Greg Free sprinting (as usual) to the next leg
4. Jeff Dibiase conquers phase 1

With only 2+ focused months of KB Sport training and 2 weeks notice, Team Ice Chamber (Heidy, Surya, Bear Bear, & Maya) was victorious at the American Kettlebell Club Classic in Las Vegas today! It was an action packed event with world-class athletes and amazing feats of strength.
Here are the results from the amateur Women’s Long Cycle event in their respective weight classes:
Heidy: Gold Medal
Surya: Gold Medal
Bear Bear: Silver Medal
Maya: Gold Medal
Unfortunately, Heidy, Surya, and Bear Bear had to jump on an airplane before the results announcement and awards ceremony. Please join us in congratulating these athletes on Monday night as we present their medals and prize winnings!

1. The IC ladies crank out triple digits!
2. Surya begins to find her groove.
3. World Champions and Record Holders Ivan Denisov and Valery Fedorenko present Maya the gold.
4. Bear Bear multi-tasks by chalking and smiling during her final minutes of prep time.
5. We could not have done it without the help of the Douglas, Susan, Rylee, and Eddie.
6. Our great friends Keesha and Britni from Las Vegas came out for full support (including Mateo sitting).

We are hosting the inaugural meeting for participants of the Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, April 13th at 9am. Erin and Kelly will provide programs, suggestions, and tips for the various training groups. This is also a great opportunity for you to match names with faces. If you cannot attend this meeting, please contact Erin so she can set you up with alternative resources. For the latest IC community news regarding this event, be sure to go here.
We hope to see you on Sunday.

It’s been rumored that the IC Group was selected for the Nike Women’s 1/2 Marathon. In case the report was true, Shari set up a nice blog to keep you all up to date with all things N. W. 1/2 M. related.
p.s. This is NOT an April Fool’s joke! Speaking of this beautiful day, please wish Kim and Lan-Ling another Happy Birthday today!

Jill makes running look fun.
On that note, the Nike Women’s Marathon is now open for registration. The event takes place on October 19th in San Francisco and sells out quickly. You can sign up for either the full marathon distance or half marathon distance. This year, due to overwhelming participation, the registration is on a lottery system. However, a “group” may sign up to enter the lottery and if that group is selected, all members will be registered.
To sign up, go here. You will be asked for a Group Email/Group ID. Use the following email address: ICWoman@yahoo.com
This race is not limited to women only. Men can register. You also need not be a “runner”. Walkers are welcome.
Please talk to Erin if you’re interested in more information.
Kim and John Martinez joined the Ice Chamber family in January 2006. On their 2nd anniversary, they decided to compete in a sprint triathlon. Enjoy watching them in the 2008 Bearathlon (yesterday)!
Thank you for continuing to inspire us all with your unwavering dedication to health and fitness.

After overcoming a difficult year, Elsa was happy to share some wonderful news with everyone. She went to Maui and got married! Elsa is one of the sweetest most thoughtful members of the IC family… and not to mention, the most passionate knitter we know. (Thanks to Elsa, Baby Mateo has enough stylin’ hats to last him through high school.) We can’t think of anyone more deserving of some rockin’ good times. Congratulations to the newlyweds!
