You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension of soreness not only in your major muscle groups but also in muscles you didn’t know you had, but that you feel acutely when you weakly attempt to return her high-five. A journey into a wondrous land where “five seconds” can stretch into a really long time, and you’ll find yourself doing exercises you never imagined possible. A place where you marvel that anyone could have that much energy, and you emerge knowing you got your workout and then some.
Next stop: the Jessica Zone.

How many of us can brag that we’ve been parallel to the floor while on the pull-up bar?

It’s easy to get distracted by Jessica’s beauty, intelligence, warmth, and amazing athleticism without knowing how hard she works to ensure that every member reach their full potential. As you can imagine, this is no small task! It’s no wonder she often gets compared to a superhero. Today for example, is Jessica’s birthday, but rather than taking a spa day away from work, she is devoted to her full schedule of rock-star clients (some of whom commute over an hour just to train with her).
Please join us in honoring Jessica’s 29th birthday by highlighting your favorite Wonder Woman moment to comments.

Piera leaves tonight for her big trip to the Gobi March in Western China…
“It would be more than great to hear from folks – words from home will carry me over the tough miles. It already promises to be an extra long and adventurous race. Giving it my best shot with what I got.” -Piera
Send your words of encouragement to the lovely Ms. Piera here.
“Like so many brave mothers before me, adjusting to being a sleep-deprived-post-surgery-nursing-new-mom in addition to wife, business owner, and trainer has not been easy for me. I don’t know where I’d be today without my faith in the great powers of the universe. I agreed to capture my postpartum training days on video in order to show the reality—good and bad—of this humbling time in my life.” Click here to read more…
Hey, if you’re like me and struggle with emotional eating habits, consider joining our workshop on June 14th.

Jess adds variety to Jr. Olympian Foreste Peterson’s speed and power training this afternoon.

Many folks asked us about the correct rack position for kettlebells last night: Why, where, how? The truth is that although everyone’s rack position will appear different due to variances in musculoskeletal structure, there are a number of key points that remain universal to good technique.
Notice Bear Bear’s elbow rest on top of her iliac crest while the kettlebell is pulled towards the centerline of her body. This position serves a number of purposes including the best mechanical advantage to launch the kettlebell directly from the hip to overhead. A proper rack also helps conserve energy by allowing the muscles of the arm and shoulder to recover since the load is resting on top of the hip.
We’ll address the complexities of the wrist and hand position next time!
Although simple, it is definitely not easy.

Here is a pic of Kristin teaching the 0700 class. If you’ve ever had a chance to work with her in the morning, you’ll know that she’s friendly, helpful, and supportive. But did you also know that she’s just as fierce, focused, and intense when it comes to getting some serious reps in with the Core group? For those of us who are lucky enough to train alongside Kristin in the evenings, we know that nothing can stop her when it comes to cleaning and jerking the KB. She has the tats to prove it. Not only is Kristin an invaluable addition to our training staff, she’s one of our most humble and dedicated athletes. Go Kristin!

IC Performance Trainer and endurance racer, Piera Damonte, prepares for the Gobi March in June. Can you say 250 kilometers?!? Go number 36!
